If you love all things Keke Palmer, you’re going to be excited for her new book “Master Me,” which is set to be released on November 19.
In her latest body of work, the entertainer takes fans into her life, discussing fame and family. She also candidly addresses what happened between her and her son’s father Darius Jackson that sent social media into a frenzy.
As previously reported, last year Palmer found herself at the center of a firestorm after Jackson criticized the dress she wore to an Usher concert. Following their online back-and-forth, tensions mounted behind the scenes, leading to allegations of domestic violence. This was further complicated by a contentious custody battle over their son, Leo, who was born last year. Now that they are in a healthier and much better place, Palmer reflects on the experience. She told PEOPLE, “It got so out of control. The only way I knew how to bring order was through the court.” Regarding what initially went wrong between them, she revealed, “Having a baby was a big stressor. Not just with my romantic relationships, but with family and friends, it’s always become a burden. Too many voices get in. It can make everybody else not trust you. It’s hard to explain.”
She continued, “I wish I could say he was terrible the entire time or that I was… but it wasn’t that black-and-white, and that was the problem. I didn’t want my son to think his father is a monster, because I don’t.”
Keke states that after they initially came together, filling each other’s loneliness and welcoming their son, navigating such a significant shift became “the hardest thing I ever had to go through.”
However, Keke emphasizes that she is all about peace and forgiveness, which has allowed her and Jackson to move forward for the sake of their family.
She even praised him while revealing that Jackson has entered the military. “I’m so proud of him and happy for him. I feel very at ease now knowing things are under control.”
