Keke Palmer is sending love back to Usher after he included her in his new music video titled “Boyfriend.”

As we previously reported, the R&B legend lit up social media on Tuesday after he shared a snippet of the visuals for the new single. He captioned the post, “When fantasies become reality. Boyfriend’ Out Tomorrow, 8/16 | Hit the link in my bio to set a reminder for the Official Music Video Premiere.”

The video has finally dropped and Keke Palmer has dedicated a post to give the singer his flowers. While sharing a dance scene from the music video, Keke Palmer shares just how special that moment meant to her. “Usher! I remember when I was 12 and auditioned for “In The Mix.” You have been killing it all my life,” she began. “As a true lover of the arts, your talent and craftsmanship are a rare combination that I aspire to achieve as a performer. You are a living legend who is worthy of awe! Thank you for encouraging me and seeing me as the entertainer I am.”

Keke went on to say, “I know I’m a gUrL but when I watched your videos, I never wanted to be the girl in them, I wanted to be YOU. Thank you for making a dream come true.”

Backstory On Keke Palmer, Darius Jackson and Usher’s Concert Drama

As we previously reported, Palmer and Jackson had a public spat after a video of Usher serenading her at one of his Las Vegas shows went viral online. Her boyfriend and father of her son, Darius Jackson was absolutely not here for it.

In a now-deleted tweet, Jackson criticized Palmer, who was wearing a black sexy sheer dress showing a bit of her hot cheeks. “It’s the outfit tho… you a mom,” Jackson replied to the clip on Twitter. Now, despite backlash online,
Jackson doubled down. “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is,” Jackson said in a follow-up tweet. “This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”

Keke Palmer hasn’t directly addressed the situation or shared if she and Jackson are still together. However, Usher has shown support to Keke throughout it all.

Usher’s Reaction To The Controversy

While speaking about this viral moment in a recent interview with PEOPLE, Usher said,

“Every night I’m thinking about how the world now is going to react to this moment that I’ll have with whoever I’m choosing to sing to,” the “Love in this Club” singer said. “But it was a pop moment, and it was fun to have at least conversation going, and we just keep it light. I don’t see anything negative happening in Las Vegas.

“I think everybody’s vision or a version of what they felt happened there just leads you back to just really having a good time in Las Vegas. And that’s what I hope came out of it,” Usher added. “Rather, it was a conversation of what was going on with us having fun in front of the audience or conversation about that song.”
