Ahead of the release for the highly antipated Jordan Peele thriller Nope, Hollywood Unlocked sat down with the two main stars of the upcoming hit, Judas and the Black Messiah’s Daniel Kaluuya and Lightyear’s Keke Palmer.
We our programmed to expect the unexpeted from Peele, while we know Nope involves aliens and Hollywood history, and a Gold Rush-themed amusement park known as Jupiter’s Claim, everything has been secretive up until now, which has boiled over our excitement.
While speaking to the stars, we got insight on Keke and Daniel’s first work encounter, and how they went to house party to prepare to play the roles of brother and sister! While Kaluuya and Peele are not strangers to working together, the addition of Palmer sets up even more powerful chemistry.
Jordan Peele has been setting the standard and breaking barriers for the culture, Palmer and Kaluuya also shared the importance of inclusion and embedding different leads in horror in particular, as history has typically erased African Americans from the film indsustry despite the contributions in film and TV.
Peele sets numerous themes and lessons within Nope that reminds us that Black filmmakers and actors have long been responsible for many great advancements in the entertainment industry and its time to bring the credit back.
