White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre brushed off a question regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’s accent asked by Peter Doocy from Fox News.
During Tuesday’s White House briefing, Doocy said that Vice President Harris sounded different in her speeches in Detroit and Pittsburgh. “Since when does the Vice President have what sounds like a Southern accent?” Doocy asked. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Jean-Pierre replied.
“She was talking about unions in Detroit using one tone of voice,” Doocy explained. “She used the same line in Pittsburgh, and it sounded like she at least had some kind of a Southern drawl.”
“I mean, do you hear the question that you’re [asking]?” the press secretary gasped. “I mean, do you think Americans seriously think that this is an important question? “You know what they care about?” she continued. “They care about the economy. They care about lowering costs. They care about health care. That’s what Americans care about.”
Doocy attempted to push Jean-Pierre for more answers, but she declined to respond.
“I’m not even going to entertain some question about the… It’s just… Hearing it sounds so ridiculous,” she explained. “The question, I’m talking about the questions, is just insane.”
“Is that how she talks in meetings?” Doocy wondered.
“I’m just… Peter, we’re moving on. We’re so moving on,” Jean-Pierre said.
