Kanye West Withdraws Petition To Appear On New Jersey Ballot

Per the Associated Press Kanye West has withdrawn his petition to appear on the New Jersey ballot for the 2020 presidential election.

The publication has obtained email correspondence between an unidentified person writing from a Kanye 2020 address telling Administrative Law judge Gail Cookson the news that West is pulling his petition to appear on the state’s ballot.

The email, sent late Monday, reads, “At this time, Kanye 2020 has no further option than to regrettably withdraw from New Jersey and cease further efforts to place Mr. West’s name on the New Jersey ballot.” On Tuesday, Cookson accepted the withdrawal, responding, “I will consider this email as a request for a withdrawal of your petition to be placed in nomination for the President of the United States in the State of New Jersey”

Furthermore, last month, Election law attorney Scott Salmon objected West’s petition, claiming he failed to pass legal muster — due to incomplete and phony-looking signatures. Salmon stated, “I am glad that the Kanye campaign has realized that their petition was so deficient that it wasn’t even worth defending. It sort of highlights the fact that it shouldn’t have been submitted in the first place.”
