On Nick Cannon’s “Cannon’s Class” podcast, the two discussed West’s start in the fashion industry and his motivation to have his own shoe replace one of Nike’s Roshe Run at the time of its popularity. He said he interned at Guiseppe Zanotti with friend Virgil Abloh and they would visit the airport to see the latest comfort shoe for the public: “I looked at that Roshe and said ‘I need to replace that shoe.’ And now when you go to the airport you see 350s, you really don’t see the Roshe anymore.”

As reported by The Source, West continued to discuss designer fashion and its influence where people would rock a throwback jersey, designer accessories, and a pair of Jordans to which he jokingly says, “I was just thinking, in my Adidas contract I definitely should be able to wear Jordans. Jordans need to be part of reparations. You cant tell a Black man he can’t wear Jordans,”

He says that he would also like to wear his friend’s clothes but given the industry’s climate, it causes a “divide and conquers” situation.
