Kanye West Says He’s Open To Running For Governor During Joe Rogen Podcast

Kanye West said during his interview with Joe Rogan on the “Joe Rogan Experience” that he would be open to running for governor in the state of California.

According to TMZ, Rogan asked Kanye West why he decided to run for President of the United States along with what inspired him to take the big step. Kanye says back in 2015, he was inspired by the idea to run for President while taking a shower and said his friends within different industries thought it was a joke. However, he continued to follow his dream since he felt like it was coming from a higher power telling him to lead the country. It was also noted that Oprah tried to discourage him from running for president after he made the announcement at the 2015 Video Music Awards. 

Continuing on about his political aspirations, Kanye also said he was open to be idea of running for governor in California but becoming President of the United States was his ultimate goal. He says he’ll become a member of the Democratic Party and run again in 2024 if he loses the election.

The pair also discussed race and West’s views about Black History Month. He says the month is used to often remind Black people about several events and occasions to remind them of the time they were considered “less than” and could be seen as “unhealthy.” He also wants society to redefine achievements made by Black people and how we can view it as a whole.
