Kanye West Donates $2 Million And Sets Up College Fund For George Floyd’s Daughter
We haven’t heard from Kanye West following the tragic death of George Floyd which sparked protests across the nation. However, his wife Kim Kardashian has been active on social media, sharing resources, and even expressed her support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
While many have been eager to hear what Kanye thinks or feels about the latest killing of a black man due to police brutality, TMZ has shared a report that Kanye has donated money not only to Floyd’s family but also to the families of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
According to the news site, a rep for Kanye says that he has donated $2 million to the families and legal teams’ fighting for Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and Floyd. In addition to that, Ye set up a college savings fund to fully cover tuition for Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Gianna. It was also said that Kanye is donating to several black-owned businesses in his hometown of Chicago and nationwide that have been in crisis and impacted by the unrest in the U.S, TMZ reports.
As we previously reported, Floyd was killed while in police custody on May 25. Following protests where people demanded for all of the cops to be arrested, eventually all four of the Minneapolis officers involved were arrested and charged.
Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed in Georgia in February after being chased down by 3 white men who allegedly believed he fit the description of a burglary suspect in the area. They have all since been arrested and charged.
Breonna Taylor, was an emergency medical worker, who was shot and killed by Louisville cops in her own home. Cops allegedly busted in without warning.
Although we are getting a few steps closer to justice in Floyd’s case, the fight continues for Arbery, Taylor and every other black man or woman who has been killed due to police brutality or racial hatred.
