According to TMZ, Johnathan Monroe filed a lawsuit against West, claiming he worked between 36 to 50 hours per week for several months but was never compensated for his time. The Malibu home was undergoing multiple renovations as part of a construction project reportedly abandoned by West. Monroe added that he addressed concerns about the lack of payment, but West allegedly fired him in October 2021 instead of addressing the situation. Although it has been three years since his termination, the lawsuit states that Monroe hasn’t received any payment for his hours.

The lawsuit seeks unpaid wages, interest, and punitive damages. Monroe further alleged that the rapper’s actions warrant further financial penalties to hold him accountable. Recently, West sold the Malibu property for $21 million after he allegedly had plans to convert it into a bomb shelter.
