Kandi Burruss is opening up and admitting she is “emotionally broken” after filing for divorce from her husband of 11 years, Todd Tucker. The couple first met in 2011 and tied the knot in 2014.

As we previously shared, Burruss, 49, filed for divorce from Tucker, 52, on November 21 after spending over a decade together. Days later, during an Amazon Live video segment, shared on November 24, the iconic singer-songwriter and ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta‘ star admitted that their split “had been brewing for a while.”
She said, “I filed Friday, but this is something that has been brewing for a while.” She added that since filing her divorce and the word getting out, it had been “a pretty crazy time.” Burruss also answered a fan’s questioning about how she’s been feeling. She candidly shared:
“I’m going to be very honest with you. I am up and down. Obviously, going through a divorce is definitely not the easiest thing. Sometimes you’re cool … then sometimes you have your moments of sadness.”
Burruss, who left ‘RHOA‘ after 14 seasons last year, added that in the past she wasn’t able to keep her private moments from the public due to the show. She said:
“In real life, in my everyday life, I really don’t like those moments to be shared with the world. But I’m sharing with my Amazon family today — I am up and down. To be clear, I filed Friday, but this is something that has been brewing for a while. All the times you’ve been seeing me online [all smiles] means nothing. I’ve been going through it. I’ve been going through it. Life has been life-ing me.”
Burruss also addressed social media reacting to her divorce. She said it’s been “hard,” and “everyone’s making their own narrative of what’s going on.” Burruss added that there are times when she wants to reply to online comments, leaving her “all over the place.” She continued, “Sometimes things just don’t work out. It just is what it is.”
She also highlighted the good from their union, like the couple’s “two wonderful, beautiful children,” son Ace Tucker, 9, and daughter, Blaze Tucker, 6. She affirmed:
“I have no regrets. We are parents together. We are co-parenting together. We have beautiful children together, so we are trying to make this transition as smooth as it could possibly be for our kids. That is our main concern. We are keeping it very friendly.”
Todd Tucker Reportedly Contacted Other Women Behind Kandi Burruss’ Back, She Speaks On Her ‘Emotional Brokenness’ After Filing For Divorce
Since the divorce announcement, a source now tells PEOPLE that Burruss allegedly discovered Tucker had been “talking to other women behind her back.” The source adds that Burruss “had no idea” and “was not happy” upon learning about her husband’s alleged extracurricular activities.
The source fully told PEOPLE, “Kandi and Todd had been having marriage troubles for a while now. Kandi was not happy because she found out that Todd had been talking to other women behind her back. She had no idea.”
Elsewhere, Burruss took to her Instagram on Wednesday (December 3) and opened up about her “emotional brokenness.” Several women in the industry and more supported her in the comments. While sharing a 4-minute video of photos of her hiding her pain, she captioned the post:
“This is what I look like when I’m going through something. I show up for my family, I show up for my friends, I show up to handle my business, & I show up with a smile all while on the inside I’m emotionally broken. In every pic of this video I was internally dealing with something life changing that most of the people in the pics with me had no clue of my inner stress & sadness. This is not being fake.
This is just how I deal with things. I internalize and deal with it alone. I am the poster child for the saying “check on your strong friend because you never know what they are going through”. I normally don’t like to share stuff like this but I was listening to this old song that I wrote years ago & felt like it perfectly described how I feel.”
