Former Vice President Kamala Harris is addressing this week’s hot topic with the Jeffrey Epstein files releasing on Friday (December 19). She reveals why the Joe Biden administration opted against releasing the documents and if she believes the current Donald Trump administration will release ALL of the files, in their entirety.
In November, Congress notably passed a bill ordering the Trump administration release additional information from its investigations into Epstein, a late financier and convicted sex offender, within 30 days. The House passed the bill, titled the Epstein Files Transparency Act, 427-1 and the Senate unanimously approved it before Trump signed it into law on November 19.
On Friday, (December 19), the 30-day deadline will hit and the Trump administration must release the remaining Epstein files. Additionally, they may only withhold or redact documents that are classified, or that could identify victims or interfere with a federal investigation.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris Reveals Why Joe Biden Administration Opted Against Releasing Jeffrey Epstein Files And Whether Or Not She Believes Donald Trump Will Release Files In Entirety
During a December 17 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, former VP Kamala Harris spoke with host Jimmy Kimmel about the files, and their significance during her administration with former President Joe Biden and current President Donald Trump. Kimmel asked Harris, “The Epstein files are supposed to be released on Friday Do you believe we will see the entirety of those files?” Harris replied:
“What he has done to treat the Department of Justice as his personal law firm is criminal in proportion to what it’s supposed to be and that it’s supposed to be an independent body that does justice, blindfolded in terms of for whom, but for the country, they’re supposed to operate without favor or fear, and what this Department of Justice has done. So, I don’t know that they are going to do what they’re saying they’re going to do, which is release all of the documents that the American people have a right to see. But, I will commend Republicans in Congress, those who have stood up to say, ‘Release the files.'”
Kimmel continued to ask, “I’m sure people ask you about it… Why didn’t the Biden administration release those files? Was that something they felt would look bad while running against this guy? Why didn’t they come during your administration? Harris replied:
“To give you an answer that will not satisfy your curiosity, I will tell you, we—perhaps to our damage—but we strongly, and rightly, believed that there should be an absolute separation between what we wanted as an administration and what the Department of Justice did. We absolutely adhered to that and it was right to do that. The Justice Department would make its decisions independent of any political or personal vendetta or concern we may have and that’s the way it worked.”
