Kamala Harris has responded to Donald Trump claiming that she’s never worked at McDonald’s.

While speaking with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, Vice President Kamala Harris stated that her position at McDonald’s was not a “small” job and revealed that she did the fries.

“Part of the reason I even talk about having worked at McDonald’s is because there are people who work at McDonald’s in our country who are trying to raise a family — I worked there as a student, I was a kid — who worked there trying to raise families and pay rent on that,” Harris added. “And I think part of the difference between me and my opponent includes our perspective on the needs of the American people and what our responsibility then is to meet those needs.”

As Ruhle pointed out, Donald Trump has been incorrectly claiming that Kamala Harris lied about her employment at McDonald’s, with his latest remarks made during a campaign rally in North Carolina. These accusations are part of a larger campaign by some right-wing individuals to propagate the false narrative that Harris has no history of working at McDonald’s.

In reality, she did work at a McDonald’s in Oakland, California, during the summer of 1983 while she was an undergraduate at Howard University. However, when she applied for a clerk position at the Alameda County District Attorney’s office four years later, she chose not to include her McDonald’s experience on her resume.

It’s quite remarkable that some people find it suspicious that someone applying for a legal position wouldn’t mention a fast-food job they held years prior. That’s really what this is all about.
