This month is PRIDE month, a time when many people celebrate the LGBTQ community. While there’s been a bunch of people getting in the PRIDE spirit, it looks like Justin Bieber’s dad Jeremy Bieber wants no part of it.

Fans who follow the 48-year-old on social media recently caught his latest post where he spoke on the special month. He shared a quote that said, “Don’t forget to thank a straight person this month for your existence.” Now, earlier this month, he also tweeted, “We need to celebrate families. U know the reason we’re all here! The things this generation glorifies is unbelievable!”

While his message seems pretty clear, social media users are just not having it. One person tweeted, “Oh, well isn’t that just lovely! Justin Bieber’s dad just had to add some more negativity to the world by spewing offensive comments about the LGBTQ community. Thank goodness he’s there to remind us to thank the straight people for our existence this month.” A second person said, “Don’t forget to thank a straight person for homophobia too 🤭.” A third Twitter user added, “Why straight people are the ones talking most during pride month like I am TIRED.”

Now, despite how the Biebs’ father feels, Justin Bieber has shown support for the LGBTQ community in the past.

In 2018, Justin Bieber showed his support for a queer fan who was struggling with LGBTQ inclusivity in religion. A two-minute clip shows him comforting a fan who opened up about the struggle to find a church that is inclusive towards gay people.

“Isn’t your church like really inclusive, like, of the gay community?” the fan asked. “I’m trying to find a place that is like, inclusive of everybody, ’cause I came out as queer not long ago. So, I’m trying to find a nice place. ‘Cause, like no one is nice. Everybody is so homophobic,” Bieber, who attended the  Hillsong Church at the time replied, “that it is, and that anyone can come.”

Bieber went on to tell the fan that he was sorry and even invited him to his church at the time.

“Yeah, that breaks my heart for you. I’m so sorry. That’s not okay,” Bieber says. “If you ever want to come to any of the services, any of them would love to have you. We’d love to have you in there, you’re more than welcome to come any time.”

Neither the Biebs nor his dad have yet to speak out to defend or clarify his statement. Until then, let us know your thoughts on this in the comment box below!
