While filming the music video for Lonely, the moment brought back some troubling memories for Bieber as he reflected on achieving international fame at 15. He noted he pretended to brush off the negative backlash about his physical appearance and music but it subconsciously affected his behavior and treatment of others.
“I would shake it off and act like it didn’t bother me, but that stuff bothered me. And then it affected how I acted and how I treated other people, and it’s just this ongoing cycle of, like, hurt people, hurt people. I was just this young kid. Man, I think that there were times where I was really, really suicidal — like, is this pain ever going to go away? It was so consistent. The pain was so consistent. I was just suffering, right? So I’m just like, ‘Man, I would rather not feel this than feel this.”

when justin bieber said he was feeling suicidal back when people used to hate on him all the time which is why his drug abuse started and his bodyguards would have to check for his pulse every day to make sure he was alive pic.twitter.com/zNWDxQjlur
