A Texas man has lost a custody battle to keep his twin 7-year-old sons in his care so that he could prevent one of the boys from transitioning their gender.

According to the Washington Examiner, a Dallas jury denied Jeffrey Younger’s petition for sole custody of sons Jude and James. He argues that their mother is advocating for James to begin hormone replacement therapy to get a sex change

The mother, who is a pediatrician, is adamant that James is transgender because he likes wearing dresses and prefers to be identified as “Luna.” She even got a letter of recommendation for James to “receive a full psychological assessment for gender dysphoria and potentially take hormone blockers.”

However, Younger argues that James is not transgender and likes being a boy and a  “social transition” or  “medical transition” is not good for him at this age. He provided experts who stated that James’ gender is still in limbo and he may not be ready to make a decision yet.

“There is still some fluidity in his thinking,” said Dr. Benjamin Albritton.. “Neither child appears to be depressed, anxious or aggressive. … He gave no indications of other significant psychological difficulties.”

However, the jury sided with the mother.
