Judge Gives Permission To Family Of Andrew Brown Jr. To See Footage Of Fatal Police Shooting
A judge in North Carolina has issued a written order that will give Andrew Brown Jr’s family permission to see the footage of the fatal police shooting that led to his death.
Many had petitioned for the footage to be released, however, under North Carolina law, body camera video cannot be released to the public without a court order.
“We’ve been working on making redactions since the hearing and are reviewing the order to comply with the specifics the judge included,” the sheriff’s department said.

Once the family views the tape they will not be allowed to record it or make copies. The identity of the officers will also be blurred.
“We don’t anticipate seeing anything we don’t already know. We think it will show an unjustified shooting,” a rep close to the Brown family said. “Regardless of when we see it (the videos) we will notice everyone when viewed and schedule a presser.”
40-year-old Andrew Brown, 40, was shot and killed by police in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Local TV station WAVY reports that he was driving away from officers when he was fatally shot early this morning.
“During the execution of the search warrant, a citizen who was subject to the search warrant was shot and fatally wounded,” the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
