Journalist Who Pretended To Board Up Vandalized Business For Photo Is Fired
A video went viral this week showing a woman pretending to board up a vandalized business in Santa Monica, CA for an Instagram photo op. Turns out she was a journalist and has since been fired.
In the video, the woman, identified as Washington Examiner reporter Fiona Moriarty-McLaughlin, posed for a photo while holding a drill against planks of wood. After the photo’s taken, she hands the drill over to the actual worker and drives off with a friend in a Mercedes SUV.

After the video went viral, the journalist deleted her social media accounts. But, it didn’t stop there. Acording to New York Magazine reporter Yashar Ali, Moriarty-McLaughlin has now been fired from the Washington Examiner.
The video of the reporter even spawned backlash from Ava DuVernay, who said “You know what? I’m… I think I’m gonna put Twitter away for a few minutes before I throw this phone across the room.,” followed by Pink, who said, “What is wrong with these entitled assholes?! Who the fuck are you and who are your parents you horrible person. How can anyone defend this???!!!”
