A new detail reveals that OKC Thunder guard Josh Giddey’s alleged encounter with a minor happened two years ago after he met her at a club in California.

Giddey, 21, was reportedly 19 when the California girl shared the photographs to Snapchat after meeting in a nightclub in Oklahoma City in 2021. According to the New York Post, Giddey allegedly discovered she was under the age of 18 the next day after their encounter and cut off contact with her. He has yet to comment on the allegations or confirm the relationship despite a leaked video where Giddey allegedly spoke on camera to an unknown person, saying: “What’s up my man? We’re at the front of the club, me and my girl, about to head back to mine.”
The teenage girl is still in high school and has not been identified publicly. As previously reported, her family will not assist with Newport Beach police in California, making it impossible for detectives to determine whether any laws were broken because the age of consent in California is 18, and the age of consent in Oklahoma is 16.

During a game with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, fans booed Giddey each time he touched the ball. Thunder coach Mark Daigneault declined to speak on the allegations and said he would not comment on anything related to Giddey off the court.
Josh Giddey joined the Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2021. He was drafted as the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft and signed a contract with the team on August 8, 2021. He played for the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL before being drafted by the Thunder. He averaged 10.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game in his lone season with the 36ers, leading the league in assists.
