As we previously reported, actor Jonathan Majors was arrested on Saturday in connection with an alleged “domestic dispute” involving a 30-year-old woman, police said. The woman was taken to a local New York City hospital with minor head and neck injuries after the alleged assault.

The criminal complaint stated that the woman was struck “about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.” Majors was accused of putting “his hand on her neck, causing bruising and substantial pain.”

He’s also accused of grabbing “her hand, causing swelling, bruising, and substantial pain to her finger.” Now, Priya Chaudhry, Majors’ lawyer, said in a statement to outlets that he is “completely innocent and is probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows.” According to Chaudhry, there’s video evidence of the incident, which occurred within a vehicle, and testimony from witnesses will prove the actor’s innocence. Chaudhry said the woman also took back her accusation of assault in written statements.

“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently,” Chaudhry said in a statement. This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode occurred, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations. All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever.”

“Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”

Although the 33-year-old “Creed III” star was charged with assault and aggravated harassment during a Sunday arraignment following his arrest, his lawyer is determined to clear his name. In a new statement to @tmz_tv Chaudhry said the woman in question sent a few texts to Majors just hours after his arrest last weekend, “admitting that she was the one who used physical force against him” and Chaudhry is pulling out the receipts to back up her claims..

In the alleged texts that Chaudhry claims the woman sent, she notes that Majors has the best team and adds that she will personally “make sure nothing happens about this. I told them it was my fault for trying to grab your phone.”

More On The Aftermath Of Jonathan Majors’ Arrest

Less than three days after he was taken into police custody, the Army erased him from advertisements in which the rising star did the voiceover work, ABC7 reports.

A statement released by the Army’s Enterprise Marketing Office said that the organization was “deeply concerned by the allegations” against Majors. Despite believing that he is “innocent until proven guilty,” they ultimately made the decision to “pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”

No other ad, film, or brand has dropped Majors over the incident. The entertainer has yet to personally speak on this case and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to until it’s completely resolved.
