Some interesting allegations were made during the opening statements for Jonathan Majors’ assault trial on Monday.
On Monday the Creed actor arrived at court with a bible in his hand and had his girlfriend Meagan Good by his side supporting him. Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry said in her opening statements on Monday and claimed that the actor’s ex, Grace Jabbari only accused him of domestic violence because Majors decided to leave the relationship, also claiming that racism played a part in Majors’ arrest on March 25th.
After his attorney made her opening statement, Assistant District Attorney Michael Perez made some shocking claims about the actor. According to Business Insider, Majors allegedly showed a “cruel and manipulative pattern of psychological abuse” towards his ex-girlfriend, claiming that he “demanded total compliance” from her. Perez continued to allege that Majors wanted her to act similarly to late civil rights activist and author Coretta Scott King or Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama by “making sacrifices for him.”
During the sound of their two-year relationship, Perez said Majors had a “cruel and manipulative pattern of psychological abuse.” For example, she said if her client didn’t do something that Majors wanted he would get very upset and throw objects at her.
Majors has denied all of the allegations against him. According to Insider, on June 21 the day after one of his court appearances Majors reportedly spoke with law enforcement and told his own version of what actually happened that night — alleging that his “drunk and hysterical” ex-girlfriend scratched, slapped, and grabbed at his face, causing pain and bleeding, according to a domestic incident report and sworn affidavit obtained by Insider.
Majors’ ex also continues to claim the actor grabbed her “right arm, [placed] it behind my body, and use his hands to twist my right forearm and right middle finger, causing substantial pain to my right forearm and right middle finger.” Court documents also claim Majors strikes the victim with his hand on her right ear and caused a cut, and that he pushed her into a car using both of his hands, causing her to fall backward.
Majors’ lawyers, Priya Chaudhry, responded back to those allegations outside of court saying, “We have provided the District Attorney with irrefutable evidence that the woman is lying, including video proof showing nothing happened, especially not where she claimed,” she said. “We did this with the explicit promise from the DA that they would not ‘fix’ their case and change it as we proved the woman is lying. This is a witch hunt against Jonathan Majors, driven by baseless claims,” Chaudhry continued.
