Johnny Depp will perhaps want to avoid any further lawsuits now that his assault case involving the location manager of his film “City of Lies” has been settled. According to Deadline, the legal team for Gregg “Rocky” Brooks, filed legal documents at the Los Angeles Superior Court to make it known that a settlement had been reached, though there was no mention of any specific terms laid out in the agreement.
In his lawsuit, Gregg had accused Johnny of punching him “maliciously and forcefully” in the ribs on the set of “City of Lies” in April 2017, asserting that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star then allegedly told the crew member he would pay him $100,000 just to “punch him in the face.” He claimed he was later fired from the movie after rejecting to sign a release waiver to sue Johnny.
In response to the claims, Johnny’s team argued that Gregg had “provoked” multiple people during production and that their client’s actions were only out of self-defense. In the motion filed by Gregg’s attorney, Arbella Azizian, this week, she wrote, “The settlement agreement conditions dismissal of this matter on the satisfactory completion of specified terms that are not to be performed within 45 days of the date of the settlement.”
The settlement comes just over a month when Johnny won his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard following a six-week trial at the courthouse in Fairfax, Virginia. The “Aquaman” star has since filed paperwork to appeal the jury’s verdict, stressing that one of the jurors was never summoned to have been present at the trial, to begin with, which consequently didn’t give Amber a fair shot at presenting her side of the story.
It’s assumed that the juror could have very well been a fan of Johnny’s, and that a judge should consider the motion in having the verdict tossed or be granted a retrial. The father of two’s lawyers have since filed their own legal docs to respectfully deny the request. Via Deadline, they wrote, “Following a six-week jury trial, a jury of Ms Heard’s peers rendered a verdict against her in virtually all respects.
Let me put this to rest to all who support AH the ONLY person Johnny Depp ever abused (directly) was himself. How could ANYONE blame him for doing drugs or drinking after all he has been through? Let’s face it he was told no one would believe him.#JusticeForJohnnyDepp

“Though understandably displeased with the outcome of trial, Ms Heard has identified no legitimate basis to set aside in any respect the jury’s decision. Virginia law is clear that a verdict is not to be set aside unless it is “plainly wrong or without evidence to support it.”’
Here, the verdict was well-supported by the overwhelming evidence, consistent with the law, and should not be set aside. Mr Depp respectfully submits that the court should deny Ms Heard’s Post-Trial Motions, which verge into the frivolous.’
During last month’s verdict, Amber was ordered to pay $15 million in compensatory and punitive damages, while she ended up winning one count of her countersuit, and received damages of $2 million.
