John Bommarito not only brought the Bommarito Automotive Group to become Missouri’s #1 choice for consumers in all of their automotive needs, but he also sent shockwaves throughout the NASCAR world—even starting two of his own teams and partnering with race car driver/owner Jordan Anderson.
As with all success stories, it starts with hard work—and John definitely had his fair share of it. His family believed in the value of hard work and had him work at the family business—the Bommarito Automotive Group—at an early age.
In fact, he was only 12 when he found himself, after school, washing and parking cars. He did this until he was 15 when he was promoted to the service department. There he learned more about the ins and outs of cars.
At the same time, he made sure to excel in his studies and even graduated High School in the top two percent of his class. He went on to study at Eckerd College and graduated with honors. Then, he was accepted into Stanford University Medical School.
But, John was a car guy at heart and decided to return to the family business. He quickly learned that he had a knack for negotiation which resulted in an increase in sales wherever he went.
He soon developed a well-known reputation for increasing sales where others only saw a lost cause. His reputation grew to such a degree that even General Motors approached him with an offer.
General Motors had a failing Oldsmobile-Cadillac store that was headed toward bankruptcy. At the time, the store was just selling 25 units a month. Yet, John saw its potential and decided to buy it.
He then negotiated a deal with Mazda to sell their cars at the location. It was a huge success, and the store now sells over 280 units a month.
After years of bringing the Bommarito Automotive Group to the top, he decided that it was time to take his “car game” to the next level.
So, he negotiated a multi-year agreement with the CEO and owner of the Gateway Motorsports Park, which led to an international INDYCAR series event. World-class racers from France, Japan, Spain, New Zealand, Brazil, and more came to participate in the event.
Through John’s “Audience Enhancement Program,” the event soon reached record attendance to the annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500.
But, John wasn’t okay with just watching from the sidelines; instead, he wanted in. So, he teamed up with Jordan Anderson and together they started two NASCAR teams including a Gander Outdoor Truck and Bommarito Chevrolet Xfinity team.
Commenting on his partnership with Jordan Anderson, John said: “To be a part of the growth and journey that Jordan Anderson and his team has been on is very special. His team exemplifies everything our family of employees prides itself in a strong and continuous work ethic, honesty, integrity, a desire for excellence, and a never give up attitude.”
All in all, John Bommarito not only became famous in the automotive world but also in the racing world. His work continues to send shockwaves throughout the NASCAR world and will continue to influence it for the better for years to come.
