Just a day after Joe Jonas filed for divorce from actress Sophie Turner, the pair have released a joint statement about their shocking split.
In a message posted to their Instagram accounts on Wednesday, Sept. 6., the ex-couple said, “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
As previously reported, the 34-year-old Jonas Brothers singer officially filed to end his marriage with the 27-year-old star of “Game of Thrones” in Florida’s Miami-Dade County Court. The filing said the marriage between the parties was “irretrievably broken.”

Their statement comes amid a whole bunch of reports that claims Joe was fed up with Sophie’s “party life.” A source previously told TMZ, “She likes to party; he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles.” Turner was seen partying in Birmingham as these rumors circulated…
It was less than a week ago that rumors emerged claiming that Jonas and Turner were heading down Splitsville. This time, it looks like the reports were 100% right.
More On Their Relationship During Happier Times
The duo tied the knot in a secretive ceremony at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on May 1, 2019, following the Billboard Music Awards. That following year, they had a daughter, Willa. Just last year the couple had another daughter whose name they have not made public yet.
According to the filing, Jonas is seeking joint custody of the girls. It was also noted that the two had a prenuptial agreement that Jonas expects will be enforced.
Joe and Sophie join the growing list of celebrities who have all ended their marriage this year. While Britney Spears and Sam Asghari split last month, Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann are “moving forward” with their divorce.
