Joe Budden recently had a few words to say about Drake’s beef with NBA star DeMar DeRozan.
As we previously shared, Drake went to a Raptors game on November 2, where Vince Carter’s jersey was retired. Interestingly, the Sacramento Kings, the team DeMar plays for now, were also in action.
During the event, videos surfaced on social media of Drake referring to DeMar as a “goof,” joking about what he would do if DeMar’s jersey was retired, and making some discreet negative comments. DeMar addressed the situation during a post-game press conference and also shared a cryptic Instagram Story. Their disagreement appears to be quite serious, especially since they have known each other for almost ten years.
However, Joe Budden and his co-host spoke on the issue and recognized why Drake might be feeling upset. However, Joe Budden himself had a different viewpoint. He recounted a previous experience where a friend had problems with him and stated that if a friend isn’t willing to communicate, he would rather end the friendship.
The Joe Budden Podcast noted that DeMar’s remarks about Kendrick Lamar in the video made them lean towards Drake’s side. Joe admitted that Drake has a valid reason to be upset but criticized how he managed the situation, even labeling him a “b” for his behavior during the game and on the sidelines.
In a recent episode of Nightcap, Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson also discussed Drake’s recent trash talk directed at Sacramento Kings player DeMar DeRozan.
When Sharpe recapped the situation, Ocho asked why the two were beefing. “I think he was in Kendrick Lamar’s video,” replied Sharpe. “And DeRozan used to play for the [Toronto] Raptors,” added Ocho. “So Drake probably thought they were kind of cool or something, huh?” Sharpe added, “They were.”
Ocho expressed that he understands Drake’s feelings towards DeMar DeRozan, suggesting that the NBA player needs to “pick a side” in the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Sharpe added that Drake also unfollowed LeBron James on social media, likely in response to LeBron attending Kendrick’s ‘Pop Out’ concert in Los Angeles.
“You know what that mean now? It ain’t over,” Ocho continued. “It might be war part two. So everybody that offended me and took sides with my enemy, I’m coming to see you.” Sharpe pointed out that Drake and DeRozan have been friends for a long time and grew up in the same city, which is why he would feel more of an allegiance to K Dot over the 6 God.
“I think Drake is looking at it like, ‘Damn, everybody done went against me,'” said Sharpe. “I kind of felt that Drake probably would feel some type of way after DeRozan was on stage with K Dot.”
