Joe Biden’s inauguration has earned more viewers than Donald Trump’s by 2 million despite Trump’s claims that he had the most views in inauguration history back in 2017.

Ratings recorded by Nielsen revealed Wednesday that Biden’s inauguration brought in 40 million viewers in comparison to Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration at 38.3 million. CNN reportedly had the most viewers for Biden’s swearing at 9.9 million and ABC News with 7.6 million. Fox News had the least viewership at 2.7 million as reported by PEOPLE.
Former President Donald Trump often bragged about his inauguration attendance numbers and viewership. At one point, he blamed the media for revealing the actual number of attendees.

Biden was sworn into office as he placed his hand on his family’s bible from 1893 and he has used the heirloom throughout his political career. His wife, Dr. Jill Biden, held the bible as he took the oath of office from Supreme Court chief justice, John Roberts. As for Trump, he did not attend the inauguration and left the White House early to fly to his home in Palm Springs, Florida.
