Joe Biden Doubles Down: “I Would’ve Beat Trump”

Joe Biden didn’t bite his tongue when it came to the 2024 election.

During a sit-down on The View, the former president spoke on Kamala Harris’ loss in the last election—and confidently claimed that if he had stayed in the race, he would’ve walked away with the W.

He told the panel, “I’m not surprised Kamala lost,” and said her defeat had more to do with how America still treats powerful women, especially Black and brown ones.

“There was sexism involved,” he said bluntly, nodding to how Harris—despite her credentials—couldn’t shake off certain negative perceptions.

In his view, the country’s vibe changed after the pandemic. He pointed out that global trust in leadership dropped, and the U.S. wasn’t immune.

Biden said folks just aren’t feeling politicians like they used to, even when they’re putting in work. But he’s certain his presence on the ballot would’ve changed the outcome.

Breaking Down the Numbers: Biden vs. Trump (If He Ran)

Trump beat Kamala Harris in electoral votes, 312 to 226, and won the popular vote by just over 2 million ballots. A narrow margin considering the stakes.

Biden argued that the numbers were close enough in key battleground states to swing if he had been in the race himself.

He pointed directly to Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania—three states that Trump won by a combined 220,000 votes. Biden believes his track record in those states would’ve pulled a different result.
