Jocqui Smollett Believes Homophobia Played A Part In Jussie’s Conviction: ‘I Find It Very Difficult To Believe That This Ever Would’ve Got This Far If Jussie Was A Straight Black Man’
Jocqui Smollett has been giving play by play updates when it comes to his brother Jussie Smollett being behind bars over his hoax case.
The oldest brother Jocqui, had a recent interview with @revoltblacknews where he explained further on how he truly felt about his brother being convicted. “Our community has a lot of homophobia in it and they leverage that fact. They knew that Jussie was not going to get the same type of support as a straight black man, and it’s been obvious. I find it very difficult to believe that this ever would’ve got this far if Jussie was a straight black man.”
He also added, “we need to really think about that celebrities, common people, everyone. We need to think about the fact that society at large failed him and hopefully one day the truth comes out to where people can see it clear as day. I don’t know how they don’t see it now, but hopefully some day that happens, and when that day happens it’s really a shame that it took that long for folks to understand that.”

As we previously reported, Jussie’s brother previously spoke out today as well through a video on Instagram to update their supporters about Jussie being released from the psych ward after he was reportedly put in because authorities thought he was at risk of self harm.
