What a year it’s been for Jennifer Hudson. Last year, she became the latest star to be welcomed into the EGOT club, and now J-Hud has even more to celebrate about because her talk show has been renewed for a second series. The “Spotlight” singer shared the announcement during Wednesday’s episode — and judging by her words of delivery, Jennifer was close to bursting into tears as she thanked her crew who’ve made her show a success.

“I think this happens to all of us as adults. We’re so busy doing stuff that we never stop to think about ‘This is what I prayed for, this is what I wanted, it’s happening.’ And embrace it,” she said as she carried on by praising God for blessing her with yet another flourishing opportunity. “Well, this is one of those moments.”

Her studio audience erupted in cheers and gave her a standing ovation, clearly ecstatic by the delightful news that she will be returning for a second run once she concludes her first season later this year. The “He Ain’t Going Nowhere” vocalist then shifted her attention to also thank her family for providing her with endless support as she tackled a career switch that’s evidently very foreign to her.

Hosting a talk show is not easy — see: Kris Jenner — but to be picked up for a second series can be just as hard, particularly if the ratings haven’t been solid enough for the network to continue breathing life into a program that’s not resonating with its demographic.

Well, that clearly isn’t the case for Jennifer, with The Jasmine Brand reporting back in October how her show had fared exceptionally well in viewership, having outperformed Nick Cannon’s short-lived daytime talk show in a matter of weeks.

In a previous interview, Jennifer gushed about how excited she was to jumpstart her career as a talk show host, saying that after dedicating two decades of her life to music and acting, she was ready to not only challenge herself but also show the world her true personality — away from the glitz and glam.

“The timing is perfect because I’ve been in this industry 20 years acting and singing,” she said, referring to the launch of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” in late 2022. “At this point, I simply want to be me, the person. And I want to get to know everybody’s person and their stories. I’m ready to talk.”
