Jennifer Hough Breaks Down As She Recalls Being Raped By Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty: “I’m Tired Of Being Afraid”

Ahead of today’s show, “The Real” shared a 3-minute clip of their interview with Jennifer Hough, the woman who accused Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty of rape.

Speaking through tears, Hough told co-hosts Garcelle Beauvais and Adrienne Bailon that she‘s now deciding to speak out because she is tired of being afraid: “I feel like the actions that were taken in regards to this whole situation, have put me in a different type of fear at my age now, and it was wrong. I don’t want to be afraid anymore so the only way not to be afraid is to continue to speak up.”

As we previously reported, Petty and Hough were 16 and living in Jamaica, Queens when it happened. In September 1994, Hough told police that Petty had forced her into a house at knifepoint and raped her, after which she escaped and told security guards at her high school, who called the police. Petty later pled guilty to attempted rape and served four and a half years in prison.

Despite this, Nicki Minaj has been saying her husband was falsely accused for years. While speaking about this, Minaj said on her Apple Music show in 2019 that Hough had actually written a letter recanting the accusations after reporting them, which Hough also says was not true.

The woman, now 43, has filed a lawsuit alleging that the couple harassed her to try to make her take back her claims. In the lawsuit, she alleges that the rap star offered her $500,000 in return for recanting her accusations against Petty. Hough claims that she turned down Minaj’s offer to have her publicist draft a statement recanting the allegation.

As of result of this, she said she had not been able to work since May 2020 “due to severe depression, paranoia, constant moving, harassment and threats” from the celebrity couple and their associates. Her lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages, says she is living in hiding as she fears retaliation.
