Former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy is currently trending over her new memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” While the title itself has a lot of people talking, her revelation about former “Sam & Cat” co-star Ariana Grande is what has people shocked.
In the book, McCurdy admits that she began to dislike Grande soon after they started filming their Nickelodeon show. This came when she realized the pop star allegedly got permission to pursue other opportunities.
“I booked two features during ‘iCarly’ that I had to turn down because the ‘iCarly’ team wouldn’t write me out of episodes to go shoot them,” McCurdy explained in her new memoir. “Are you. Kidding me,” McCurdy recalls thinking. “So I have to turn down movies while Ariana’s off whistle-toning at the Billboard Music Awards? F–k. This.” McCurdy also recalled the time she snapped when she found out that the singer was allowed to miss out on filming while she had to work: “I’m pissed about it. I’m pissed at her. Jealous of her. For a few reasons,” she writes. “So now, every time she misses work it feels like a personal attack. … From that moment on I didn’t like her. I couldn’t like her,” Page Six quotes.

McCurdy was on the show iCarly” before it ended in 2012. From there, “Sam & Cat” premiered in 2013 but ended after one season. So far, Grande has not publicly responded to the excerpts from McCurdy’s memoir.
Meanwhile, she had more positive things to say about her other former co-star Miranda Cosgrove. While speaking with ET she said, “The last I heard from her she said she was so excited to read it and sent a very supportive text about reading the book. I can’t wait for her to read it. I think she’ll really like it. I think she’ll laugh a lot. I think she’ll relate to … a lot,” McCurdy said. “I love Miranda to pieces. I always will. She has such a special place in my heart. She helped me grow as a person and heal as a person, and I hope I did the same for her. I just love her so much.”
Aside from that, while appearing on Good Morning America earlier this week, McCurdy explained why she chose that eye-catching title.
“Anybody that has experienced parental
abuse understands this title….. I wouldn’t
have written the book if my mom were
alive. I would still have my identity dictated
by her.”
