Jemele Hill Responds To Backlash For Asking Jake Paul If Nate Robinson Knockout Was Racist

An episode of “Cari & Jemele (Won’t) Stick to Sports” made its rounds on social media over a specific moment where the hosts ask Jake Paul if his knockout was racist.

In the now-viral clip shows a frustrated Paul trying to get through the question when he was first asked by Jemele Hill. However, after being asked the question again by Cari Champion, the boxer visibly becomes annoyed and says:  “Stop asking me that,” he said. “I said ‘no.’ That’s a shitty question. It’s a sport. How does this have anything to do with race?”

Although Hill and Champion admitted to trolling the Youtuber-turned-athlete, social media users were just not here for it. Hill is now speaking out to react to all the backlash. In an Instagram post, the sports reporter simply said: “Judge for yourselves. All good if you don’t think it’s funny or if you think the joke fell flat, but we were clearly kidding around with Jake Paul — which he knew.“

Champion also tweeted,
”Y’all, @jemelehill and I were trolling a troll with permission. This wasn’t an interview with weight. It was sarcastic- y’all need context? Bc if y’all can’t hear the laughing, the bad WiFi connection- smh. So for the outraged! For more context Thurs. at 1130pm on @VICETV 👀.”

She added, “NOW RACISM IS SERIOUS! Okkkk. Lol.”
