Jeff Bezos Becomes World’s First $200 Billion Man
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has become the world’s first $200 billion man! On Wednesday, shares for his online platform hit $3.403.64, causing his net worth to rise up by $4.9 billion, making the 56-year-old mogul the world’s richest person.
At 1:50 p.m. EST, Bezos’ net worth hit $2.4.6 billion, nearly $90 billion more than the world’s second-richest person, Bill Gates, whose current net worth is $116.1 billion. Furthermore, Amazon’s shares are now up 77.1 percent year-to-date, with its market cap sitting at $1.68 trillion.

It’s noted that Bezos could’ve possibly hit $200 billion last year, had it not have been for his hefty, most-expensive divorce settlement of 2019 with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, who walked away with 25% of his Amazon stake, a chunk of stock now worth $63 billion. Scott, who recently gave away $1.7 billion to HBCUs and other charities, is currently the world’s 14th-richest person, and the 2nd-richest woman, sitting behind L’Oréal heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers.
Fox News states that Bezos, Gates and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg are the only people in the world holding a 12-figure fortune.
