As we previously shared, TV host Jeannie Mai, 45, accused her estranged husband, rapper Jeezy, 46, of physical abuse amid their messy divorce. In an April court filing obtained by PEOPLE, Mai, who shares 2-year-old daughter Monaco Mai Jenkins with Jeezy, alleged that she experienced several instances of domestic abuse and child neglect during their relationship. She alleged that during their time together he had shown “explosive outbursts, excessive drinking, and domestic violence.”

Responding to Mai’s claims, Jeezy, who filed for divorce in September 2023 after nearly 3 years of marriage, shared a statement on Instagram denying the allegations, calling them “not only false but also deeply disturbing, especially coming from someone I loved.”

He wrote, “This malicious attempt to tarnish my character and disrupt my family is ridiculous. It’s disheartening to witness the manipulation and deceit at play and at this time my main concern is being an active father to our daughter as I continue to fight for court-mandated joint custody. Rest assured, the truth will prevail through the proper legal channels.”

Weeks after Jeannie Mai’s abuse allegations against Jeezy, born Jay Jenkins, she again spoke of the alleged abuse after claiming she saw herself in singer Cassie, 37, who’s been making headlines since her November 2023 lawsuit alleging abuse, rape, and sex trafficking against her ex-boyfriend, rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54.

Last month, Cassie, born Casandra Ventura, shared a statement after a video surfaced of her being assaulted by Diddy at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. Diddy took to his Instagram to share an apology video, taking “full accountability” for his actions seen by millions. Days later, on May 23, Cassie released her own statement thanking her family, friends, and strangers for their love and support and condemning domestic violence.

Commenting under her post was Jeannie Mai, who, according to PEOPLE, wrote, “In every echo of your bravery, Cassie, there lies a melody of hope that dances through the silence. Your voice has been a shield and sanctuary for many, including me. Thank you for turning your fight into your light.”

Since Jeannie Mai’s comment, Page Six reports that Jeezy has “called upon a couple of women” to defend him against his estranged wife’s abuse allegations. One person coming to his defense is the rapper’s ex-girlfriend, Mahi, with whom he shares a 10-year-old daughter Amra Nor Jenkins. On Friday morning (June 7), Mahi reportedly filed a sworn affidavit testifying to Jeezy’s character.

In court documents obtained by Page Six, Mahi, 37, wrote, “I’ve witnessed Jay be a devoted, caring, and present Father to our daughter and his oldest child [Jadarius Jenkins, 28]. For almost four years, Jay’s eldest child lived with us and I was able to see their relationship grow every day. At no point was Jay ever physically, mentally, or emotionally abusive to his children or I.”

Mahi, who dated Jeezy for a decade, said he’s “one of the most peaceful people” she’s ever met. However, it’s reported that she also sued him in 2020, claiming he failed to pay court-ordered child support (of $10,000 per month), her medical expenses not covered by insurance, and her private school tuition.

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai’s nanny, Minhee Hoffler, also submitted an affidavit, in which she described him as being an extremely “loving” dad to the couple’s 2-year-old daughter. She reportedly wrote, “As a caretaker, I believe Mr. Jenkins gives his daughters the support they need as they grow into young women in the future. Mr. Jenkins is a hardworking person, but even more hardworking dad.”

Firing back at the character statements for Jeezy, Page Six reports that a rep for Jeannie Mai told them, “It seems Mr. Jenkins is trying to distort the truth once more by employing people to file false statements and claims against Ms. Mai, attempting to contradict real-time evidence and factual events. We are eager to present all the evidence in court.”
