It’s been a month since Jeezy made the shocking move to file for divorce from his wife Jeannie Mai after more than two years together.
Per docs obtained by TMZ, Jeezy stated that their marriage is “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.” As previously reported, the two are said to have have a prenup in place and he’s requesting joint custody of their daughter.
Jeezy hasn’t said anything about the breakup since then but he has finally released a statement on their split. He said, “The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart.” Jeezy, 46, went in to say, “Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.” Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”
More On Their Split
While it’s still unclear what led to their breakup, what we do know is that infidelity on Mai’s part wasn’t a thing. As previously reported, the former talk show host was accused of cheating on Jeezy with “Access Hollywood” host, Mario Lopez — but a source close quickly denied this rumor.
What Has Jeannie Mai Said?
While appearing on the Sherri Shepherd’s Sherri Show, she publicly commented on her ongoing divorce from Jeezy for the first time. She said,
“It takes daily to sit and be quiet in your thoughts,” Mai said. “You give God your pain and he will give you his power. Just taking it day by day.” She added, “And turning off everything really helps. I tuned into the voices that I needed to hear, that’s me and the truth.”
Last week, the 44-year-old also made a statement on Instagram, writing: “Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect. To Heal.”
