Jay-Z’s Paternity Case Officially Dismissed With Prejudice
After years of legal drama and public speculation, Jay-Z’s paternity case has officially been dismissed with prejudice, bringing an end to a decade-long saga that’s followed the rapper for years.
According to Page Six, court documents reveal that a California judge granted Jay-Z’s motion to dismiss the case filed by Rymir Satterthwaite and his legal guardian, Lillie Coley.
This means that Satterthwaite—who’s now 30 years old—can no longer file the same paternity suit again or demand further DNA testing from Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter).
In his claims, Satterthwaite alleged that the “99 Problems” rapper impregnated his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, back in the ‘90s, making him the hip-hop billionaire’s secret son. Jay-Z, however, has denied the allegations from the start.
Rymir Satterthwaite Speaks Out Amid The Case’s Dismissal
Before the dismissal, Rymir Satterthwaite took to Instagram to clarify his decision to step back from the case, writing:
“I did withdraw my case.”He continued, “I have not stopped my fight. We got to step back and play chess, not checkers.”
The post, shared on July 27, suggested that there were ongoing discussions “behind closed doors” regarding his next move.
While many thought the withdrawal meant the case was over, it seems the court’s ruling sealed the deal, officially closing this chapter in the long-running legal fight.
Satterthwaite’s attorney described their intention not as a pursuit of child support, but rather a fight for truth and reputation, saying they sought damages related to “reputational harm and emotional distress.”
Jay-Z’s Legal Team Calls The Paternity Allegations “Harassment”
Jay-Z’s attorneys weren’t quiet about how they viewed the repeated claims. In their official filings, they called the accusations “harassment” that had already been addressed and thrown out “in multiple other courts.”
The defense argued that Satterthwaite’s claims had been legally baseless for years, yet kept resurfacing in new forms. The court agreed, calling the latest suit an “abuse of the judicial system.”
Despite the drama, Jay-Z himself has rarely spoken publicly about the matter, preferring to let his legal team handle it while he focuses on his ventures—from Roc Nation to his billionaire business empire.
Inside Rymir Satterthwaite’s Decade-Long Quest For Recognition
Rymir’s fight began nearly ten years ago, with claims that his mother, Wanda, had a romantic relationship with Jay-Z in the early ‘90s before he became a global superstar.
Over time, Rymir said that his mother’s story and family resemblance pushed him to seek acknowledgment, though courts consistently ruled there wasn’t enough legal ground to proceed.
The case gained social media attention, especially as Rymir shared emotional updates and statements about how the process impacted his life.
He claimed the court system had been unfairly influenced by Jay-Z’s fame and power, though no evidence supported that accusation. Still, Rymir’s persistence drew sympathy from some fans, who felt his story deserved closure—whatever the outcome.
