JAY-Z & Yo Gotti File Second Lawsuit Over ‘Barbaric’ Conditions In Mississippi Prisons
Rappers JAY-Z and Yo Gotti continue their prison reform efforts, this as they file a second lawsuit against Mississippi Corrections officials over “barbaric” conditions; which left at least nine inmates dead since the beginning of the year.
The suit, carried out via Team Roc — Hov’s philanthropic arm at Roc Nation, was filed on behalf of 152 inmates living with poor health services and food contaminated with rat feces and cockroaches at Parchman prison. It follows a similar suit from January, on behalf of 29 inmates.

Team Roc gave the Mississippi Department of Corrections 90 days to address the health and safety risks. Yo Gotti says, “The game plan is to get change. To make sure the Mississippi prison be held accountable to treat the prisoners like humans and not have them living in inhumane conditions.”
In addition to last month’s suit and this secondary filing, a PSA video was released detailing the “abhorrent” conditions inmates are living with, and includes direct testimony from the relatives of inmates who have died inside.

Inmates have been forced to live in deadly environments that lack clean water, adequate food, access to healthcare, among many other basic human necessities.
