JAY-Z & Team Roc Post Bond & Pays Fines For Alvin Cole’s Mother & Protestors In Wisconsin
After the officer who fatally shot Alvin Cole was cleared of charges earlier this week, Cole’s mother and several protestors took to the streets of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Since, rap legend JAY-Z and his Team Roc (social justice arm of Roc Nation) have posted bond and paid fines for all.
Earlier this week, the Milwaukee district attorney’s office decided not to charge officer Joseph Mensah in Cole’s February murder, claiming there was “sufficient evidence” that Mensah had “subjective belief that deadly force was necessary and that belief was objectively reasonable.” Police say Cole aimed a stolen 9mm handgun at them, causing for deadly force.

Subsequent to the news, Cole’s mother Tracy, and dozens of protestors hit the streets and were arrested on Thursday (Oct. 8). In addition to posting bond and paying fines for demonstrators, JAY and Team Roc have also paid an undisclosed amount of court fees for Tracy Cole, her daughters Taleavia, Tristiana and Tahudah. During the demonstration, it’s also stated that Mrs. Cole was injured after officers used “excessive fore” during the arrests.
Dania Diaz, executive director for Team Roc stated, “Our hearts break for the family of Alvin Cole and the Wauwatosa community. Not only did the District Attorney’s Office fail to hold Officer Joseph Mensah accountable for killing Alvin, but the local police also arrested and injured Alvin’s mother Tracy and his sisters as they peacefully protested alongside Jacob Blake’s father.”
