Jay-Z Launches His Own Cannabis Line, ‘Monogram’

Jay-Z’s empire is getting bigger! The 50-year-old rapper and business mogul announced Friday that he is launching his first line of cannabis in a joint venture with California-based weed company, Caliva.

As it was previously reported, Jay teamed up with Caliva last year when he became the brand’s chief brand strategist. Since then, he’s been working on developing his own line of marijuana, named ”Monogram, ”CBS News reports. According to a press release, the brand seeks to “redefine what cannabis means to consumers today” with “careful strain selection, meticulous cultivation practices, and uncompromising quality.” It was also noted that experts grow the Monogram flower so that each plant receives “personalized attention.”

Fans were able to get a first glimpse of the product as the company debuted its website and an Instagram account on Friday. Along with the site was a playlist curated by Jay-Z on his streaming platform Tidal called “Monogram: Sounds from the grow room.” It featured an array of artists such as Bob Marley and Amy Winehouse. Rapper Meek Mill even took to Twitter to speak about the new line: “Told jay he gotta blaze a jay with me one day Monogramcompany.com he sent this back!”

This latest venture joins the long list of his other businesses, which have been successful along with his music career, earning him a place in the elite club of entertainers who have hit billionaire status.
