Cardi B was HU Founder Jason Lee’s first guest on the premiere episode of “The Jason Lee Show” on Wednesday — and the interview certainly didn’t disappoint.
Cardi, who admits to not having done a lot of face-to-face interviews in recent years, got candid with her longtime friend as she addressed everything from how Offset fought to save their marriage after she filed for divorce to the recent tragic passing of Takeoff.
The “Up” rapper didn’t shy away from answering questions pertaining to her marriage, which appeared to have turned rocky when she filed court docs to divorce the Migos rapper in September 2020 after nearly three years of marriage. “Me and Offset, we was not seeing eye-to-eye,” Cardi told Jason Lee. “This was like, the same year I filed for divorce and everything.”

And though she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, by November 2020, the pair had worked through their differences as the case wound up being dismissed without prejudice.
The Grammy winner continued by saying that she didn’t want to speak for Offset, so she wasn’t going to get into the details of why she decided to file the docs, though she assured that whatever Offset did to make her want to call it quits had “stopped.”
“And he changed, and it showed me that he wanted to change for me.” When the New Yorker decided to call off her divorce, she said that her and Offset were having plenty of sex, which would later lead to Cardi finding out she was pregnant with their second child — her son, Wave Set Cephus.

The conversation with Jason Lee also touched on some more heavy-hitting topics, such as the passing of Takeoff, who was shot and killed at a Houston bowling alley on November 1 while out with Quavo and members of their entourage.
Cardi recalled how she and Offset were initially planning to attend LaLa Anthony’s Halloween party but ultimately changed their mind and stayed at home after daughter Kulture vomited on her outfit for the festive occasion.
She said at some point during the night while they were asleep, both of their phones were perpetually ringing. “Offset picked up the phone, and he’s just like, ‘No!’ He’s screaming and screaming, ‘No, no, no!’ And I’m like ‘What’s going on?’ And he was like, ‘Takeoff is dead.’”

“‘Don’t say that,’” Cardi told Offset, clearly in disbelief of what she’d just been told. “He’s just screaming and just throwing things, throwing up, running all over. I was just so scared, I was just crying so much.”
