It’s been quite the year for Keke Palmer, who made her return to music with the release of her second album, “Big Boss,” last month. It’s her first studio record since dropping her debut project, “So Uncool,” back in 2007, and while she’s put out a handful of mixtapes since then, it’s her first full-length album lifted from her label, Big Boss Entertainment. But that’s not all, because, earlier this year, Palmer also welcomed her firstborn, Leodis Andrellton Jackson, whom she shares with her beau Darius Jackson.
As fans will already be aware, the pair have been dating for almost two years, and while Palmer initially kept her pregnancy under wraps, by the time she hosted “Saturday Night Live” in late 2022, the actress flaunted her baby bump and made things official by announcing that she was, in fact, pregnant. And with so much going on in both her professional and private life, it was only right that Palmer would stop by Revolt’s “The Jason Lee Show” for a candid chat with HU Founder Jason Lee to get into some things.

When she was jokingly asked when she decided she was going to let her boo put a baby in her, Palmer quipped, “Why would you put it like that? You know what, I think simply it’s like this… Wow, here’s a person I can depend on, somebody that’s disciplined, that’s responsible, I mean, when I think about someone that’s going to be a father, I need someone that I can count on. And that’s the person he was for me when we were dating.”
She added that the only person she has received that level of support from has been her family, giving her all the more reason to believe Jackson was the one. “It was for years, I used to think, “‘Man, am I ever going to find anybody that’s going to understand my lifestyle?'”
“I didn’t know if I was ever going to find anybody, but I found that person.”
Further on, the Disney alum also touched on how her life has changed since becoming a mother, saying her son has left her feeling inspired. “Nothing is as big as a deal as my baby is, so that’s given me a sense of ease and confidence — I didn’t know I could get more confident.

“I’m a Virgo, how could you get you know more confident, but, I just think when it comes to the physical appearance, I put on that extra baby weight, honey, and I started working out with my trainer, Corey, and we [Palmer makes a gesture and noises] in all the right places. Here we are.”
The “Jump In” actress continued to explain why her confidence grew after giving birth, telling Lee that after nine months of carrying her child, she felt empowered by the experience — particularly when it was time to welcome Leodis in the hospital. “It is crazy to see, wow, it’s the new me. Life surprises you in that way,” she expressed.
