Amid Blindspotting Season 2’s release on Starz, we spoke to the star of the show Jasmine Cephas Jones who has been embodying the character Ashley since the movie and subsequent television show, where Ashley becomes the main character.

What Blindspotting has always done best is creatively bring light to issues in our communities in creative ways that disseminate the message to audiences and also bring comic relief to moments.

When her husband, Miles, is incarcerated, Ashley moves in with Miles’ mother and half-sister as she makes some difficult decisions in the aftermath while navigating life raising her son and being separated from Miles. We get a first-hand look into how mass incarceration affects families and loves ones, especially in the U’S where many men have lengthy sentences for petty crimes.
With the current climate of the entertainment industry, we also touched on the ongoing writer’s strike and how writers are an integral part of our lives and the story we see on screen.
