Jamie Spears has responded to the backlash he has been facing since his daughter Britney came forward about the lifestyle she was reportedly forced to endure due to her conservatorship.

Jamie Spears submitted legal documentation stating he has no involvement in the conservatorship and Britney has to take that issue with his successor, Jodi Montgomery. He says he’s been “cut off from communication with her” and Britney’s lawyer, Sam Ingham, filed the paperwork to appoint Montgomery since he claimed his client did not have the mental capacity to make the decisions about her medical treatment at the time.
“Ms. Montgomery has been fully in charge of Ms. Spears day-to-day personal care and medical treatment, and Ms. Montgomery has made all decisions related to those matters.”

He adds that his daughter should place all blame on Montgomery for not allowing her to get married or have another baby. Jamie said he gave permission for Britney to marry her ex-fiancee, Jason Trawick, in 2011 but the pair broke up in 2013. His lawyer also chimed in and said his client “believes it is important for the integrity of the conservatorship proceedings and in the best interests of Ms. Spears for the Court to order an investigation into the issues and claims raised by [Britney] at the June 23, 2021 status hearing. Either the allegations will be shown to be true, in which case corrective action must be taken, or they will be shown to be false, in which case the conservatorship can continue its course.”
