Jamie Lynn Spears Defends ‘Badass’ Big Sister Britney Spears Amid Conservatorship & #FreeBritney Drama
Jamie Lynn Spears, little sister to Britney Spears, is coming to her “badass” big sister’s defense amid her ongoing conservatorship battle, which has led to a #FreeBritney movement.
On Tuesday, Jamie Lynn released a statement about mental health coupled with celebrities tweeting out following Kanye West‘s meltdowns. Spears’ post spawned comments from her sister’s fans demanding that she be released from her conservatorship — which she’s been under for over a decade after her father claimed she’s mentally unfit to care for herself and children.

As fans continue to speculate that Britney is involuntarily under this intense supervision, they flooded her sister’s post, leaving her to come to the popstar’s defense. As one user commented, “How about your sisters OBVIOUS mental illness? Why don’t you speak on that?,” Jamie Lynn clapped back, “You have no right to assume anything about my sister, and I have NO right to speak about HER health and personal matters. She is a strong, badass, unstoppable woman, and that’s the only thing that is OBVIOUS.”
Additionally, Spears’ post was captioned, “If you deal with mental illness or care for someone dealing with mental illness, then you know how important it is to respect the situation with privacy for the person, and the family trying to protect their loved ones, no matter how it may appear to the public, and as the public we must learn to do the same. I pray this doesn’t bring shame to anyone dealing with mental illness, you are not alone, and you are loved. Sending all my love and prayers to all of you.”
