Fallon 45, instantly received backlash as many called for him to be “canceled.” Hashtags like #JimmyFallonIsOverParty even began trending on Twitter, with many people also demanding an apology. Fallon eventually addressed the situation publicly on Tuesday. He said in a tweet,
“In 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this,” Fallon said. “I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.”
Now, despite the big wave of criticism online, there were a number of people who were actually not mad at the comedian for his old skit. Fellow actor and comedian Jamie Foxx spoke out to defend his good friend:

He went on to say,
“On a show called in living color we played every race.” “Let this one go,” he concluded. “We got bigger fish to fry … #changecourse.”
