Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Breaks Silence After Viral Video Sparks Outrage
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is officially under fire after a disturbing video hit social media showing an officer breaking a car window and punching a Black driver in the head during a traffic stop. The video, which has already racked up thousands of views and comments across platforms, appears to show a chaotic encounter from back in February.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was reportedly pulled over on February 19, 2025. According to the video, he claims the officer stopped him because his headlights weren’t on—even though it wasn’t raining, it was daytime, and other cars around him didn’t have their headlights on either.
In the video, the driver is speaking calmly to an officer on the passenger side who tells him, “It doesn’t matter, you’re still required to have headlights on.” When the driver asks the officer to pull up the law, the officer responds, “Yeah, when you step out of the car, I will.”
Then the energy shifts. The driver asks, “Can you call your supervisor?” The officer brushes it off with a “Huh,” prompting the driver to repeat his request. The officer responds, “Alright, go for it.”
Outta nowhere, another officer standing by the driver’s window smashes the glass with his fist and screams, “Exit the vehicle now!” Before the man even has a chance to register what’s happening, he’s punched in the head.
“Here,” the driver yells with his hands up, “What is your reason, sir?”
What follows is complete chaos. The video captures at least five officers descending on the man. “Get on the ground! Stop fighting!” one officer yells. Another punches the driver in the chin before slamming him to the ground.
Though the moment of takedown isn’t fully caught on video, you can hear the scuffle and yelling. “Stop resisting! Hands behind your back! What’s wrong with you?” one officer shouts. The driver pleads, “What do you mean? I was putting my hands behind my back! What’s going on, man?” An officer responds flatly, “You’re under arrest, that’s what’s going on.”
The clip ends with one cop stating the driver had marijuana in his pocket. The arrest and use of force are now under internal review.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Confirms Internal Investigation
After the video went viral on Sunday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office issued a brief statement confirming that an internal affairs investigation is underway.
