Chantel Christie Breaks Her Silence After Throwing Hands with Mom Jackie on *Basketball Wives LA*
Whew, chile! Things exploded on Basketball Wives LA Monday night — and no, this wasn’t your usual reality TV side-eye and shade session. We’re talking full-blown mother-daughter showdown between Jackie Christie and her daughter Chantel, and now Chantel is speaking out to tell her “truth.”
In case you missed it, Chantel who’s now a full-time cast member, tried yet again to confront her mama Jackie about their rocky history. But instead of a breakthrough, viewers got to see them get broken up following a physical altercation. The conversation quickly spiraled from verbal jabs to straight-up chaos, ending in security stepping in.

“If You’ve Never Dealt With a Toxic Mother, Then You Truly Have No Idea What It Feels Like”
After the episode aired, of course social users shared their reactions online and even turned their fight into memes. However, Chantel Christie hopped on Instagram and let’s just say she did not hold back. In a statement that reads more like an emotional open letter, she broke down what viewers didn’t see behind the scenes — and why she’s standing 10 toes down on her decision to call out the drama in her family.
“I’ll start by saying—if you’ve never dealt with a toxic mother, then you truly have no idea what it feels like,” Chantel wrote. “As painful as it’s been to watch these moments of my life play out on TV, I know my younger self is proud of the woman who finally stood up for herself.”
She continued:
“The truth is—this dynamic isn’t rare. It happens in more families than we’d like to admit. Narcissism. Jealousy. Lies. Lack of accountability. Gaslighting. Abuse. Hiding assault etc. We’re just taught to keep it in house and suffer in silence. I chose to break that cycle.”
Whew. Now that’s a read.
And for those judging her for how things went down physically, Chantel made it very clear what really happened during the fight:
“She touched my arm, I pushed her off of me, she swung. Plain and simple.”
“Y’all Know the TV Character. I Know the Mother.”
As the statement went on, Chantel made it clear that what the audience saw was just one layer of a much deeper wound.
“What you witnessed was a masterclass in narcissism—someone lighting the fire behind the scenes, then walking away so you look like the arsonist. I know what really happened on and off camera—all season long. So no—the internet cannot bully me into submission. Y’all know the TV character. I know the mother.”
And to those keyboard critics? Chantel said she’s not losing sleep.
“I may not be proud of all my choices this season, but I’m also not ashamed.
This is my real life. And I doubt anyone judging me lives a perfect one.”
She wrapped her powerful message with grace, adding:
“Celebrating my darkest moments says more about you than it ever will about me. I’ve always been misunderstood. And this chapter of my life is no different. But I will answer to God—not imperfect strangers who’ve never walked a step in my shoes. I will keep my head up, and my peace in focus, as I continue to grow—as a mother, a wife & a woman.
— CCJ!”

So what actually led up to the chaos?
On the episode, Chantel attempted to walk away from their sit-down by saying she wouldn’t be moving forward with Jackie in her life. But just as she was about to leave, she came back with even more heat — dropping verbal bombs and going in on her mom with zero filter.
Jackie tried to stay calm and even asked her daughter to leave her room. “You can’t bully anymore,” Jackie said. But Chantel, who was already fuming, replied with a sharp:
“I don’t have to do sh*t.”
Then came the moment — Chantel pushed Jackie, Jackie allegedly swung back, and suddenly they weren’t just throwing words, they were throwing hands. Security stepped in fast, but the damage was already done.
And y’all know the internet had plenty to say…

One fan tweeted,
“That wasn’t just a fight… that was a whole lifetime of pain exploding in one moment.”

“You don’t push your mom into a closet unless there’s trauma. Respect to Chantel for standing up, even if it got ugly.”
