On Monday (Mar. 22), Dorsey’s tweet, which was first published on March 21, 2006 and simply read, “just setting up my twttr,” was sold for exactly 1630.5825601 ETH or $2,915,835.47 USD. The tweet was won by Sina Estavi, CEO of Malaysia-based blockchain company Bridge Oracle.

Dorsey says he’s going to convert the proceeds to bitcoin and will then donate those funds to GiveDirectly’s Africa response fund. Being as the tweet was auctioned on Valuables, a platform by Cent, a social media network built on blockchain, Cent will keep 5% of the proceeds and the rest Dorsey will have left to donate, about $2,770,043.25 million. #Socialites, thoughts?
