While many fans enjoy the film being replayed, it looks like Issa Rae is taking things into her own hands to create a remake! According to Variety, Issa is in the early development stages of the project. It was said that she will produce and possibly star in the film!

Aside from the “Insecure” creator, it’s unclear who they have in mind to star in the movie. Fans mentioned rapper Young M.A after a fake remake flyer circulated on Twitter a few months ago. However, the New York artist recently appeared on Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored and weighed in on the possible role.

The original movie shared the story of four friends who were fed up by their low-wage jobs and band to together for a series of bank robberies. After initial success, their last attempt lead to a tragic end.

Variety notes that Montrel McKay, Rae’s partner at Issa Rae Productions will also be producing the project with her. Syreeta Singleton (Black Monday) and Nina Gloster (Star) have been hired to pen the script.
