34-year-old Teral Christesson was found at the Santa Fe home on Sunday after authorities responded to a call from a homeowner about a man who broke into their home. The man said he found Christesson drinking a beer and eating shrimp when he arrived home but the home intruder apologized.

Police further explained that Christesson told the homeowner that he needed a place to sleep after his “family was killed in east Texas and he was running from somebody.” Shortly afterward, he packed up his AK-47 and left $200 for the broken window before leaving the home.

Christesson was later arrested the following day after police followed a lead about a woman who was robbed at gunpoint near a Church’s Chicken in Santa Fe. She explained to police that the suspect tried to rob her vehicle while she was waiting in line at the drive-thru.

While speaking with police, Christesson did not discuss the attempted carjacking and was charged with aggravated burglary, larceny, and criminal damage to property in addition to another aggravated assault for the incident at Church’s Chicken.
