Illinois Woman Convicted Of ‘Revenge Porn’ After Sharing Photos Proving Fiancé Cheated
Bethany Austin, a 43-year-old Illinois woman, has been convicted of “revenge porn” after sharing sexually explicit photos proving her fiancé, whom she had been dating for seven years prior, had cheated on her.
It’s reported that in 2016 Bethany received texts and racy images of another woman on her iPad, which is synced up to her man’s Apple iCloud account. Hurt and upset, Bethany called off the wedding. Soon after, her man reportedly began spreading rumors that she was “crazy,” and to set the record straight, she mailed a four-page letter to family and friends explaining the situation, and included screenshots of the texts and photos. In her testimony she said, “I decided to tell people the truth. I wanted them to know that I wasn’t crazy.”

Subsequent to her poor actions, Bethany was charged for revenge porn and on Monday (Apr. 26) inside a McHenry County Court, she was found guilty of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images. Now, Bethany is facing anywhere from probation to up to three years in prison for her crime. She’s due back in court on June 24 for sentencing.
